A celebration of science and technology

The Multiplex Single-Cell Proteomic Technologies Symposium in San Francisco feted two new groundbreaking books

On June 17, one day before FOCIS 2024, Standard BioTools sponsored the Multiplex Single-Cell Proteomic Technologies Symposium in San Francisco to celebrate the publication of two new groundbreaking books. Revealing Uncharted Biology With Single Cell Multiplex Proteomic Technologies: Applications and Platforms, edited by Wendy J. Fantl, PhD, are a complete guide on currently available multiplex single-cell proteomics research techniques and present practical advice on designing experiments leveraging these tools. The two books have a unique focus on complementary platforms and their application to understanding complex biological systems, and contain detailed information on a variety of methods and insights directing a path to successful research outcomes.

Throughout the day, the authors discussed their latest works and their perspectives on how best to approach a research question with current technologies, examining how single-cell tools advance our understanding of disease using immune profiling, tissue mapping, functional analysis, biomarker identification and applied data analysis. An engaged audience listened to presentations from knowledge leaders on a wide range of topics, from assessing global immune competence using CyTOF® technology to identifying therapy resistance mechanisms using spatial analysis of the lung cancer tumor microenvironment to developing predictive biomarkers for endometrial cancer immunotherapy with CyTOF flow cytometry.

Symposium Speaker

After the individual talks, the Symposium concluded with a roundtable discussion with Garry Nolan, PhD, Brad Nelson, PhD, and Brice Gaudilliere, PhD, that explored the future directions of the field and how to advance multiplex cytometry and imaging technologies for clinical applications.

Finally, after a day of learning and sharing transformative ideas and forward-thinking discussions, Symposium attendees got to network and enjoy stunning views at the group cocktail hour at a rooftop lounge.
